Len Smith Civil Engineering and Building Consultants

Len Smith Consulting Ltd was established in 2013 by our Managing Director Len Smith who is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineer. The company is a member of TRADA -the Timber Research and Development Association.

Len has over 40 years’ experience with a background in construction and building and has worked for individual private clients, private companies, local authorities, central governments in the UK and abroad, major consultants, contractors and private finance concession companies. Len decided in 2013 that it was time to get back to his roots and set up Len Smith Consulting Ltd.

The aim of the company is to use our wide experience in building and civil engineering to provide designs that work, are cost effective and buildable.

On the civil engineering side Len has worked on roads, bridges and tunnels. Roles have included tunnel manager, design, tender preparation and evaluation, contract negotiation, project management and operation & maintenance.

On the building side we have worked on commercial new builds and commercial conversion and on the residential side we have worked on new builds, conversions and extensions.

We are passionate about listed buildings and structures and have been lucky enough to work on listed buildings, listed bridges including a Grade 1 listed medieval bridge and a listed chain suspension bridge. Len is also passionate about developing the next generation of building designers and civil engineers and lectures part time on building and civil engineering

We enjoy problem solving and are happy to work on any size project - just a single beam design through to the larger projects.
